Following the sessions held in the various Portuguese youth detention centres, the transcription of the sessions was adapted and transformed into a set of six art pieces by visual artist Hamilton Francisco (a.k.a. Babu) and collected as an exhibit called “In Between Places” (in Portuguese: Entre Lugares) that is on display at Convento São Francisco from early May to the end of June 2024. In Between Places focuses on the crossroads adolescents typically find themselves at: graspling with diversity and difference, between the conformity and the misfit, and with newly found powers that manifest themselves in adolescence. While these powers can often leave them at a loss as to what to do, they can also be the best opportunity to promote the capacity for self-transformation and overcoming intergenerational cycles of violence.
